When the World of Outlaws Late Model series visited the River Cities Speedway last Friday night during the second stop of their annual 'wild west tour', some of the NLRA's series regulars showed their ability to hold their own against some of the best in the business. Dustin Strand, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71 won his heat race in convincing fashion, winning by nearly a second over outlaw regular Chase Junghans, and by nearly a second and a half over eventual feature winner Tim McCreadie. Strand lead three laps in the feature, and was running in the top five late in the race when Josh Richards made contact with Strand, forcing Strand to the infield with seven laps left. Brad Seng in the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, and Joey Pederson, in his No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors MB Custom, charged from 20th and 21st to finish eighth and seventh respectively. While this was going on, Mike Balcaen and Dustin Strand were not only fighting for the second spot, but also for the point lead atop the NLRA series standings. Strand took second with eleven laps to go and started cutting into the advantage held by Weiss. Strand pulled up alongside Weiss with to laps to go as they split the lapped car of Kevin Sexton, but Weiss got a good bite off the high side of turn two and held Strand off for the win.
