The NLRA's 16th season of racing is underway after two big nights of racing this past weekend at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN. On Saturday night Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wi started on the pole and never looked back leading all 25 laps of the main event. The win was his 5th NLRA series victory. Doar crossed the finish line a second and a half ahead of second place finisher Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating machine. The third, fourth, and fifth place finishers had their work cut out for them as none of the three started in the top 10.

Saturday nights' race is now scheduled to be the season opener for the NLRA's 15th season of racing after last weekends rain-out at the Devils Lake Speedway. These races will mark the 28th and 29th times the series has visited the challenging high-banked half mile oval on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Viking Speedway regular Jeff Wildung of Nassau, MN leads all drivers with 10 previous series victories at the speedway. Another driver familiar to Viking Speedway is Zach Johnson of Kensington, MN, who has six previous series victories there. Defending NLRA champion Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport Mars MB Custom, and three-time series champion Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle each have one previous win at the speedway. Racing begins at 6 pm on both nights.
The NLRA season opener is tomorrow night at the Devils Lake Speedway. The last picture of the 10 day countdown is of the 2012 NLRA Champion Brad Seng. Remember that racing begins at 7pm on Saturday, and that some NLRA series regulars will be racing at the River Cities Speedway tonight.

The green flag is set to fly for the NLRA's 16th race season this Saturday at the Devils Lake Speedway near Doyon, ND. This event marks the 14th time the NLRA has raced on the 1/3 mile oval and the third consecutive year the series has appeared there since the speedway re-opened in 2011. Three time series champion Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle, owns three series victories at the speedway. Ricky Weiss was the feature winner in the NLRA's only visit to the speedway last season. Mike Balcaen finished second, with Brad Seng, Tommy Thompson, and Dustin Strand rounding out the top five. Racing begins on Saturday night at 7pm.
