NLRA Event Preview - Red River Valley Speedway

On Sunday night, July the 17th, the NLRA will co-headline closing night festivities at the Red River Valley Fair with the NOSA Sprint Cars. This event marks just the fourth time the areas two premier racing series have shared an event at a speedway other than the River Cities Speedway, and first since June 10th, 2007.

Jeremy Keller and Jason Linnell were winners in 2007 at the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND. The Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN hosted the other two in 1998 and 2001. This is also scheduled to be the ninth appearance by the NLRA on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, seventh on the current three-eights mile configuration, and second since the track reopened this past May after sitting dormant since the conclusion of the 2012 racing season.

NLRA Series Review - Four Race Stretch Part Two

The NLRA series continued its' four race stretch with a return to the Red River Valley Speedway, where Cole Schill, Driver of the No. 44 Mid Ag Dispatch MasterSbilt, picked up a popular home victory, his second in less than a week. The stretch wrapped up at River Cities on Saturday night, where Don Shaw won his first late model feature at he speedway since 1999.

Schill and Allen Kent, in his K&K Racing No. 33, lead the field to the green, with Schill leading into one. The pair was followed by Shane Edginton, Matt Aukland and Mike Balcaen. Schill lead lap one by a nose, as he and Kent were even, one again, into turn one, as Aukland peeked inside of Edginton in turn two.

NLRA Series Review - Four Race Stretch Part One

The NLRA is coming off a four race stretch, which started last Wednesday night at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, helping kick off the 121st Norman County Fair.

The stretch kicked off last Wednesday night, as heat winners Kevin Robertson, driver of the No. 10R Nugget Vending MasterSbilt and Adam Fischer, and his No. 30 Northwest Auto Body Rocket, lead the field to the green flag in the feature. Iron Ranger Jeffrey Massingill, driver of the No. 6M Tesar Racing Engines Club 29, got off to a great start on the bottom of the track, and lead the field into turn one from the third starting spot.

NLRA Event Preview - River Cities Speedway And Greenbush Race Park

On Friday night, June the 17th, the NLRA will once again proudly co-headline one of the areas biggest racing spectacles, as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series makes its' first of two stops at the three-tenths mile oval on the Grand Forks County Fairgrounds. The NLRA will be making its' 26th appearance at the speedway since 1999, and will be making the first of five scheduled appearances at the speedway this season.

NLRA Event Preview - Season Opener At Jamestown Speedway

On Saturday night, June the 11th, the NLRA storms into Jamestown to take on the quarter-mile bullring on the Stutzman County Fairgrounds for the 21st time in series history.

Two-time and defending series champion Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium, was the only driver to emerge from a late model in victory lane at the speedway last season. Strand won the NLRA series race on August 1st, and the Late Model portion of the Jamestown Stampede last September. Strand's NLRA win last August was his second at the Speedway, his first coming in August of 2012.

The late model season has officially come to an end, with and a few NLRA series regulars racing their final races of the 2015 season over the last two weekends. Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Moyer Longhorn, and Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR, ran at the Fall Classic at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN on October 9th and 10th. Strand finished seventh in the main event, with Cole Schill finishing eleventh. The race was won by two-time series winner this season Don Shaw.

NLRA Postseason Report

Even though the NLRA season has come to a close, most of its' series regulars continued their racing seasons over the past two weekends. 2015 NLRA series champion Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Moyer Longhorn, won the 44th annual Jamestown Stampede after starting third, and surviving a four car pileup that included the top three and a lapped car, continuing on to victory over Cody Skytland and Matt Aukland. NLRA series runner-up this season, Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, finished seventh at stampede after starting 14th.

Shaw Wins At Norman County; Strand Breaks Through In Jamestown

A pair of drivers broke winless streaks last week as Don Shaw won at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, and Dustin Strand won at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. Shaw, driving his Shaw Trucking No. 42S, won is his second NLRA series feature, his first since June 17, 1999 at the River Cities Speedway. A pair of Bloomquist chassis shared the front row at the start, as Steffen Snare, in the High Mark Snowmobile Rentals No. 71S, and Ricky Weiss in the Derrick's Sandblasting No. 7, lead the field to the green, with Weiss taking the point as the green flag flew. Snare completed a slide job on Cody Skytland for second at the end of the first lap, allowing Weiss to pull away, and Shaw to take second from both of Snare and Skytland's No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbuilt by JMR.

Weiss wins three, Seng wins one during NLRA Minnesota Speedweek

The NLRA embarked on a grueling five race stretch last week, and only saw one event lost to rain, and two different winners. The action began an hour late on Wednesday night at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, as a rain storm that his just before six o'clock. Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, pulled away from a hard charging Don Shaw, and lead the final 21 laps to win his 14th career NLRA main event. The win gave Weiss sole posession of fourth on the all-time wins list, breaking a tie he held with Mitch Johnson.

Ricky Weiss Wins Night One At Norman County

Ricky Weiss lead the final 21 laps, but had to fend off a hard charging Don Shaw to win his 14th career NLRA main event at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, Wednesday night. The win gives Weiss sole posession of fourth on the all-time wins list, breaking a tie he held with the great Mitch Johnson. The track crew worked hard to fight a rain storm that his just before six o'clock, and the races only started an hour late. Don Shaw, Mike Balcaen, Matt Aukland, and Cole Schill completed the top five. Balcaen was the hard charger, moving up nine spots, and with a DNF by Brad Seng, Balcaen also took over the point lead by ten markers over Dustin Strand heading into Thursday nights' event. Some more drivers are expected in Ada Thursday night as Donny Schatz, Zach Johnson, John Kaanta, and Lance Matthees are rumored to show.
