The late model season has officially come to an end, with and a few NLRA series regulars racing their final races of the 2015 season over the last two weekends. Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Moyer Longhorn, and Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR, ran at the Fall Classic at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN on October 9th and 10th. Strand finished seventh in the main event, with Cole Schill finishing eleventh. The race was won by two-time series winner this season Don Shaw.
Cole Schill was joined by fellow NLRA regulars Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Hi-Per-Flex Panel Systems Pierce, and Steffen Snare, driver of the No. 71S Todd's Electric Bloomquist, at the Granite City Speedway last Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night, Schill ran a strong third to veterans Pat Doar and John Kaanta. Snare and Anderson finished 12th and 13th respectively, while Seng finished 22nd. On Sunday at Granite City, Cole Schill finished third again behind John Kaanta and Pat Doar, with the latter stealing the win on the final lap by .139 seconds. Brad Seng finished eighth, Steve Anderson eleventh, and Steffen Snare 13th.
With the Wissota season officially coming to an end, here's a recap on how our series regulars finished the season in the Wissota national standings. Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, won his fourth Wissota National Championship, with Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbilt by JMR, finishing fourth in the National standings after three top tens in the final three races. 2013 national runner-up Dustin Strand finishing fifth. Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Black Diamond finished sixth, with Brad Seng finishing seventh. Cole Schill was 14th, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 OMG Candy MasterSbuilt by JMR 16th, and Steffen Snare as the final series regular inside the top 25 at 24th.
Some other notable finishes in the Wissota national standings include Shane Edginton, who finished the season in the No. 4 Performance Auto Victory completing his season 26th, with Steve Anderson 27th, and Jeff Hapala, driver of the No. 16S Auto Solutions Rocket 32nd. Dusty Peterson, driver of the Precision Lawn Car & Landscape No. 1, finished 36th after a sixth place finish at Granite City last Saturday. Matt Aukland, driver of the Northwest Auto Body No. 12A, ran third at the fall classic, and finished 40th in the points. A pair of NLRA'ers just missed the top fifty, as Joey Pederson, driver of the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors MB Custom, finished 51st, and Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 Disabled American Veterans MasterSbuilt finished 54th.
