The NLRA is set to invade the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN, for one of the staples on the series schedule, the Labor Day Double Header. The Viking Speedway is the biggest and fastest track, the only remaining half mile on the tour. The track sits on the Douglas County Fairgrounds, and will host the series for the 40th and 41st time, the record holder for any track the series has visited

This Saturday night, August the 26th, the NLRA will race the eleventh event of the series 20th anniversary season, returning for the second and final time this season to the high-banked quarter-mile Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (August 23, 2017) – Tonight, Red River Valley Speedway plays host to the best Late Model drivers in the upper Midwest as the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) takes on the semi-banked three-eighths mile clay oval. The event, which is presented by The Forum, Bernie’s Wine & Liquor, Corwin Automotive, and Inland Truck Parts & Service, will mark the first and only appearance of the season by the 650+ horsepower, full bodied machines. Donny Schatz and Brad Seng were the big winners in NLRA action last week, with Schatz scoring wins at the Red River Co-op and River Cities Speedways, and Seng tallying another win at the Devils Lake Speedway. On Thursday night at the Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Donny Schatz parked the No. 15 Fargo Petro Rocket in victory lane. Donny Schatz took the lead from point leader Ricky Weiss on lap 16 and continued on to win for the second straight event with the NLRA Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. The win is Schatz's fourth career series victory, and third in NLRA action at River Cities. Schatz, for the second time in his career, went on to win the World of Outlaws Sprint Car feature also. Weiss finished second, with Brad Seng, Dustin Strand, and Shane Edginton, who started 19th, rounding out the top five. Jeff Hapala was the hard charger, improving 16 spots from 24th to finish eighth. Weiss will take a 60 point lead over Dustin Strand into Saturday nights event at the Devils Lake Speedway.

Schatz took the lead from early leader Don Shaw, cruising to a four second victory. Schatz, along with the rest of the American contingent, brought home the Can-Am Challenge trophy for the first time in the four runnings of the event. Cole Schill finished second, with Ricky Weiss third, Shane Edginton fourth, and Brad Seng rounding out the top five. Dave Smith was the hard charger, improving 14 spots to finish ninth after starting 23rd. NLRA series action continues Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series.

Another big week lies ahead during this 20th anniversary season for the NLRA and it's series regulars, as the series will run three races in as many days, with races at the Red River Co-op, River Cities, and Devils Lake Speedways.

The stretch will feature a return for the first time in eleven years to the Sheyenne River Speedway in Lisbon, ND. The race is scheduled to be the twelfth for the series on the quarter-mile oval on the Ransom County Fairgrounds on Lisbon's west end. |
