The green flag is set to fly for the NLRA's 16th race season this Saturday at the Devils Lake Speedway near Doyon, ND. This event marks the 14th time the NLRA has raced on the 1/3 mile oval and the third consecutive year the series has appeared there since the speedway re-opened in 2011. Three time series champion Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle, owns three series victories at the speedway. Ricky Weiss was the feature winner in the NLRA's only visit to the speedway last season. Mike Balcaen finished second, with Brad Seng, Tommy Thompson, and Dustin Strand rounding out the top five. Racing begins on Saturday night at 7pm.
A Trip South for the Weekend
A couple NLRA regulars raced over the weekend in South Dakota. Brad Seng, Mike Balcaen, Dustin Strand, and Billy Michaelsohn were all in appearance at the Wissota Challenge Series Race at the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD, with the latter three and Cole Schill making a stop at the Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD Sunday night. Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport Mars MB Custom finished the weekend as a runner-up to Pat Doar on Friday night, and as a 4th place finisher Saturday night. Balcaen's best finish was a 9th place run on Friday. Strand, driver of the No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating machine finished 7th Saturday night and 4th on Sunday. Cole Schill placed 13th in his No. 44 Master Transmission machine, and Michaelsohn in his No. 8 Dave's West Fargo Tire entry finished 15th on Sunday night.
