The NLRA series takes to the track two times this week with races at two very different race tracks, first On Thursday night, July the 30th, at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, and on Saturday night, August the 1st at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. First on Thursday night, the series makes its' third and final appearance this season, and 16th overall at the three-eighths mile oval on the Norman County Fairgrounds. Ricky Weiss in the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, swept the fair races in June, with Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Black Diamond, Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR, and Dustin Strand, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71, also collecting top tens on both nights.
Three drivers will head into Thursday night looking to be the first driver to win three races at Norman County as Weiss, Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, and 2006 series co-champion Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbuilt by JMR, lead all active drivers with two previous series wins in Ada, while drivers like Viking Speedway regulars Zach Johnson, driver of the No. 73 of the Shaw Trucking Pierce, and Jeff Wildung have one win each along with Pat Doar and Dustin Strand. Racing starts at seven on Thursday night.
On Saturday night, the scene shifts east as the series makes its' last appearance this season to the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. The race is scheduled to be the 20th overall at the quarter-mile oval on the Stutzman County Fairgrounds. The NLRA was scheduled to race in Jamestown on June 13th, but after a lovely afternoon, a thunderstorm hit just before six o'clock, eventually ending the night, despite the efforts of track officials to try and work the track back in. Brad Seng has two series wins in Jamestown, including last years' visit, while Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 OMG Candy MasterSbuilt by JMR, and Dustin Strand are the only other active series regulars to post victories at Jamestown. We may see some interesting names on Saturday night, as this is the last time that late models will take the track in Jamestown leading up to the 44th annual Jamestown Stampede on September 25th & 26th. Racing starts at seven on Saturday night, and is brought to you by Titan Machinery.
Heading into Ada, Mike Balcaen leads the NLRA point standings with an eight point advantage over Dustin Strand. Brad Seng sits in the third spot, just 24 points behind Balcaen, while Steffen Snare, driver of the No. 71S High Mark Snowmobile Rentals Bloomquist, and Ricky Weiss round out the top five. Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Hi-Per-Flex Panel Systems Pierce, is in the sixth spot, with Jeff Hapala, driver of the No. 16S Auto Solutions Rocket in seventh, Bill Mooney eighth, Cole Schill ninth, and Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 Disabled American Veterans MasterSbuilt, rounding out the top ten.
