The NLRA season continues on Saturday night, July the 18th, with the series 16th appearance at the Devils Lake Speedway near Doyon, ND. Two-time and defending NLRA champion, Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, won last years' race, leading all 25 laps for his second career victory at the three-eighths mile oval. Steffen Snare, driver of the No. 71S High Mark Snowmobile Rentals Bloomquist, was second with Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Black Diamond, finishing third, Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Hi-Per-Flex Panel Systems Pierce fourth, and Zach Naastad, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. Z17 rounding out the top five.
Troy Schill, driver of the Forks Finest Auto Body No. 11 finished sixth at Devils Lake last season, with Kevin Robertson, driver of the No. 10R H. Anderson Concrete Placement MasterSbilt in seventh, Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 Disabled American Veterans MasterSbuilt eighth, Jeff Hapala, driver of the No. 16S Auto Solutions Rocket ninth, and Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR rounding out the top ten.
Seng broke through for american drivers, as Devils Lake had been dominated by Canadian drivers since the track re-opened in 2011. Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 OMG Candy MasterSbuilt by JMR, and three time and defending Wissota champion Ricky Weiss in the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, had won the previous three races entering last season. Mike Balcaen leads all drivers with three previous series conquests in Devils Lake, with Seng and Weiss with two wins, and Mooney and Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbuilt by JMR with one win each.
Three-time NLRA champion Mike Balcaen leads the NLRA point standings with a twelve point advantage over 2013 series champion Dustin Strand, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71. Defending series champion Brad Seng sits in the third spot, while Steffen Snare and Ricky Weiss round out the top five. Steve Anderson is in the sixth spot, with Jeff Hapala seventh, Cole Schill eighth, Cody Skytland ninth, and Bill Mooney rounding out the top ten.
