Th NLRA and its' series regulars are set for a short track weekend, as the series returns to Jamestown on Saturday night, then heads east to take on the Buffalo River Race Park on Sunday.
On Saturday night, August the 13th, the NLRA will make its' second and final appearance this season, and 22nd overall, at Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. The popular quarter-mile bullring on the Stutzman County Fairgrounds, produced a new winner in June as Zach Naastad won the NLRA season opener on June 11th.

Naastad, driver of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. Z17, lead 22 of the 25 laps, and fended off challenges by Shane Edginton, driver of the No. 4 General Signs Victory by Moyer, and Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Mid Ag Dispatch MasterSbilt, for his first career NLRA series victory.
Naastad also had to defend his lead on a number of restarts, as five caution periods, three of which were multi-car pileups, plagued the main event. Schill and Edginton finished second and third respectively, while Dustin Strand and Ryan Corbett rounded out the top five. Naastad's win also kept all non Q&Z sponsored late models winless at the speedway since 2014, as Dustin Strand swept the pair of late model events at the speedway last season including the NLRA race in August and the Stampede in September. In NLRA competition Since 2012, Dustin Strand is yet to finish outside the top ten, while Shane Edginton, Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Enns Brothers Black Diamond, and Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, have only missed the top ten once. |

Edginton finished twelfth in August 2013, while this past June, Brad Seng suffered a DNF due to driveline woes, and Mike Balcaen was unable to compete as his car was destroyed in a brutal wreck at River Cities one night prior. Seng's top ten streak ended at five, as his last sun top ten run in Jamestown was in August 2010. Balcaen's streak ended at six, as he had not finished outside the top ten in Jamestown since 2009, when he was absent from the June show.
Saturday night will also be the final opportunity for area late model drivers to see the track before the 45th running of the Jamestown Stampede on September 22nd-24th. Racing begins at seven on Saturday night. For more info on the Jamestown Speedway check out our tracks section.

Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbilt by JMR, finished second, with Mike Balcaen third, Schatz fourth, and Dustin Strand rounding out the top five.

Two-time series champion Brad Seng leads the NLRA series standings heading into Jamestown by 44 points over Shane Edginton. Dustin Strand sits in the third spot, while Cole Schill and Mike Balcaen round out the top five. Steffen Snare, driver of the No. 71S Todd's Electric Bloomquist is sixth, with Jeff Hapala, driver of the No. 16S City Parcel Delivery Rocket in seventh, Ryan Corbett eighth, Tom Corcoran, driver of the No. T1 D&B Motors Rocket ninth, and Jason Storbakken, driver of the Storbakken & Sons Construction No. 16, completing the top ten.
