Zach Johnson, and Joey Pederson each kept their strong seasons going with NLRA series victories last week. The action began on Wednesday Night at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN. Zach Johnson of Kensington, MN moved up from the fourth starting spot in his heat race to pick up the victory that would lead to him drawing the pole for the main event. He never let that draw go to waste as he dominated the 30 lap main event, especially in the early going, as he lapped half of the races' 28 starters, before a caution on lap 22 bunched the field back up for an eight lap shootout.
Ricky Weiss would show Johnson his nose a couple of times before another caution gave Dustin Strand and his No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium a chance to pass Weiss and make a final shot at the win with 4 laps to go. Johnson, however would hold on for the victory, his second of the season with the NLRA, and ninth with the circuit, which is seventh on the NLRA's all-time wins list. Following Johnson to the line were Strand, Weiss, Brad Seng in his No. 12S S&S Transportation Mars MB Custom, and Donny Schatz rounding out the top five. Cody Skytland came home sixth, with Mike Balcaen in the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle finishing seventh. Bill Mooney in the No. 2 Freehearingtest.ca Rocket moved up from the 16th starting spot to finish 8th. Jeff Provinzino, and Brian Bernotas rounded out the top ten. Steve Anderson in the No. 9 Hi-Per Flex Panel Systems Pierce was the races hard charger coming from the 23rd starting spot to finish 13th. Seng, Johnson, Skytland, and Weiss each picked up heat race victories.
On Friday Night, Joey Pederson remained the man to beat at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Pederson in the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Mars MB Custom, went two for two at the speedway this season, while also grabbing his sixth NLRA series victory, tying him with Kevin Sexton and Dale Skytland for tenth on the NLRA's all-time wins list. Mike Balcaen lead the 21 car field to the initial green, and jumped out to an early lead. After a pair of cautions, Pederson, and Dustin Strand close on Balcaen, setting up an incredible three car battle that lasted until the third and final caution with 6 laps to go in the 20 lap main event. Pederson would take the lead on lap 14 and hold off Strand after the final caution for the victory. Chris Olson of Hibbing, MN, came home third, with Tom Corcoran, and his No. T1 D&B Motors Rocket finishing fourth after starting 14th. Balcaen rounded out the top five.

Brad Seng was the races' hard charger by finishing eighth after starting in the 19th position. Bill Mooney, and Zach Naastad, in his No. Z17 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating machine rounded out the top ten. Strand, Troy Schill in The No. 11 Forks Finest Auto Body Victory Circle, and Balcaen were the winners of the evenings' three heat races. NLRA action continues Thursday Night as the series makes its' only appearance of the season to the Red River Co-Op Speedway near Winnipeg, MB, Canada. The series is also scheduled to race this weekend at the Hibbing & Emo Speedways to round out the month of June.
