The NLRA will run two races in Canada, and one in Minnesota's Iron Range this weekend. Racing begins at 7:30pm Thursday Night June the 27th at the Red River Co-Op Speedway just south of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the series will run for the 22nd time in its history. Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle is the defending champion at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, and has five previous NLRA victories there. Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12 S&S Transport Mars MB Custom has two series victories at the Speedway, including last years visit. Troy Schill, driver of the No. 11 Forks Finest Auto Body Victory Circle has two series victories. Joey Pederson in the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Mars MB Custom and Ricky Weiss have one victory each. Weiss has also won two of the three feature races at the Red River Co-Op Speedway this season.
Saturday Night June the 29th, the scene shifts to the Hibbing Speedway in Hibbing, MN, where the NLRA will be part of the $3500-to-win Mike Baumgardner Memorial. The NLRA has not visited the Hibbing Speedway since 2003 when the late John Seitz picked up the only other race the series has hosted at the 3/8 mile oval. The NLRA's series regulars will face stiff competition against a strong group of Hibbing Speedway regulars, including Harry Hanson, Jeff Provinzino, Tommy Waseleski, and Zach Wohlers among others. Racing begins at 6:30pm.
The weekend series ends on Sunday Night June the 30th with the NLRA's debut at the Emo Speedway in Emo, Ontario. Great racing should be expected as very few of the NLRA's series regulars have ever seen the Borderland Racing Association's 3/8 mile oval. This is the third different track in Canada the NLRA has visited, and the first new track since the series debuted at the Estevan Motor Speedway in Saskatchewan in 2003. Racing begins at 6:30pm
Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium heads into the weekend series with a 30 point lead over Mike Balcaen and a 34 point lead over Brad Seng. Troy Schill, and Joey Pederson are tied for the fourth spot in the series standings. Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Freehearingtest.ca Rocket, and Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Hi-Per Flex Panel Systems Pierce, are tied for the sixth spot, while Zach Johnson, Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 Northland Repair & Towing MasterSbuilt, and Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Quaker Steak and Lube Rocket round out the top ten.
