NLRA regular Joey Pederson will look to stay undefeated twice tonight at the River Cities Speedway. Pederson, driver of the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Mars MB Custom will try to win his fourth feature of the season at River Cities in his late model, then he will try to complete the three-peat in the River Cities Speedway school bus races. Pederson is the events' only winner, having won the previous two events for the Sacred Heart school. He also won in his late model on school bus night the previous two seasons. The annual school bus race night at the River Cities Speedway was started in 2011 as a fun way to benefit area schools.
Another decorated sprint car driver will make his late model debut tonight, as Mark Dobmeier will race as a team mate to NLRA regular Steve Anderson in twin No. 9 Hi-Per-Flex Panel Systems Pierce race cars. Dobmeier has a shot at scoring his 100th win at the speedway tonight. Dobmeier has 97 wins behind the wheel of a sprint car at River Cities, and one in a legend car. Sprint car drivers racing late models is becoming a regular occurrence in the area, as World of Outlaw Sprint Car series driver Donny Schatz has raced in three events with the NLRA this season, scoring one top five, and three top tens.
Friday night was already scheduled to be a big night for the area late model scene, as NLRA series regular, and series co-founder Tom Corcoran will be inducted into the River Cities Speedway Hall of Fame during intermission of the nights' race program. Corcoran will also race his No. T1 D&B Motors Rocket tonight at the speedway. Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium, will look to extend his Wissota National Points lead, while Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport Mars MB Custom will look his second race in as many nights. Seng was last nights' feature winner at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN. Racing at the River Cities Speedway begins a half hour earlier tonight, as the races will start at 7 pm, instead of their customary 7:30pm start time.
