Greseth started on the pole on the opening night of the double header with Shane Edginton in his No. 5E Performance Auto Sniper lined up to his outside. Greseth took the lead on the initial start as Bryce Sward moved the No. 1-2 Alexandria Appliance Service MB Custom in on Shane Edginton to battle for the second spot as Greseth completed the opening lap with the lead. Sward moved into second with Edginton in third. The best battle became the one for fourth as Joey Pederson became the first driver inside the top ten to run the top of the speedway, moving the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Rocket XR1 to the outside of Brad Seng's No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom in a bid for the spot. | Mike Greseth will bring an 84-point lead into Thursday's Prelude to the Johnny at River Cities in hopes of winning a third consecutive series title. As the leaders caught up to the tail of the field to start working lapped traffic, Pederson made his way past Edginton while still running the top and moved in on Sward as the three drivers battled for the second spot.
Edginton attempted to run between Sward and Pederson in turn one in traffic, but was unable to pull off the move as Pederson took the second spot from Sward.
Greseth remained the leader past the halfway point as the race remained caution free. Edginton eventually made it past Sward for the third spot, moving to the inside of Pederson as they battled for second.
By this time, Greseth had a straightaway lead over the rest of the top five as the leaders continued to run through heavy lap traffic.
The only caution of the race with eight laps remaining set up a double file restart, though Greseth continued to lead at the drop of the green with Edginton passing Pederson for second.
Edginton remained within a couple car lengths of the leader, pulling to Greseth’s rear spoiler in the closing laps, but was unable to make the pass as Greseth continued on for his 16th NLRA feature win.
Edginton was second with Pederson third, Strand fourth, and Cole Schill fifth in the No. 44* Mid Ag Dispatch MB Custom after starting 12th, picking up hard charger award honors. Edginton, Sward, and Strand, were the heat winners. 23 cars were in attendance on night one at Greenbush.
On Night two at Greenbush, Greseth started on the outside pole and was joined by polesitter Brandon Corbett and his No. 00C Stone's Mobile Radio MB Custom.
Greseth again took the lead through the first trip through turns one and two and was joined by Joey Pederson and Dustin Strand as the top three at the conclusion of the opening lap.
This time, an early caution slowed the pace of the race on the third lap, setting up a double file restart with Pederson choosing the outside.
Pederson continued in second with Strand third and Casey Stremick in fourth in the No. 11S Stremick Trucking Rocket as the top four pulled away from the rest of the field.
A few laps later, the leaders reached the rear of the field and started working lap traffic on lap eight. Two laps later with Pederson and Strand battling for the second spot, Pederson and a lap car made contact sending Pederson into a spin and ending his night early.
That moved Bryce Sward into the third spot as Strand took the outside for the second double file restart of the race. Strand and Sward remained side-by-side for a few laps before Strand took control of the second spot while remaining within a car length of Greseth for the lead.
The next caution with ten to go saw Tyler Peterson pull the No. 33 QuickLift Rocket XR1 to the inside of Dustin Strand as the new third place runner, though Greseth and Strand remained the lead duo.
The leaders finished the race a couple laps shy of having to work lap traffic again as Greseth held the lead in the final laps leading, all 50 laps on the weekend for his 17th series win of his career.
Strand was second with Peterson third, Sward fourth, and Corbett fifth. Peterson was the hard charger after starting 13th and passing 10 cars. Greseth, Sward, Stremick, and Corbett were the heat winners. 25 cars were in attendance on night two at Greenbush.
The series season comes to a conclusion on Thursday night September 7th with the annual running of the ‘Prelude to the Johnny’ at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks which kicks off the 17th annual John Seitz Memorial weekend.
