Last season at the Viking Double, Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist, and Don Shaw, driver of the No. 42S Shaw Trucking Victory, split the weekend.
Weiss won Saturday's race, while Shaw scored the victory on the Sunday portion of the double. Both drivers also scored second place runs on the night the other won at last season's Double.
Weiss' win put him closer to clinching his second series title, while Shaw's win put him closer to winning the Wissota National Championship. Both drivers went on to clinch those respective titles.
Weiss and Shaw also split this season's Memorial Day double header with the Wissota Challenge Series at the Speedway.
The most recent NLRA winner is Shane Edginton, driver of the No. 4 General Signs Victory, who picked up his first win in two years last Saturday night at the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN.
Edginton scored a third place finish on Saturday and a fourth place run on Sunday at last season's Double Header.
Dustin Strand will take a slim 16 point lead into the weekend. Speedway Shots photo.
Ryan Corbett, driver of the No. C4 Dempsey's Truck Service MasterSbilt, was the only other series regular to score a top ten during last season's Double, chalking up a ninth place run on the Sunday portion.
Dustin Strand used a fifth place run at Greenbush last Saturday to move the No. 71 Red Headed Rebel Brews Millenium SRT to the top of the series standings. He will take a slim 16 point lead over Brad Seng into the Double.
Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Mission Transport Black Diamond, will head into Alexandria third in the series standings, and with the Wissota National point lead.
Shane Edginton and Troy Schill, driver of the No. 11 Todd's Electric MasterSbilt, currently round out the top five.
Brody Troftgruben, driver of the No. 14 R&R Landscaping Rocket, is sixth in the series standings, with Bill Mooney moving back up to seventh after his third place run at Greenbush in the No. 2 OMG Candy MasterSbilt.
Jesse Teunis, driver of the No. 70 St. Andrews Towing MasterSbilt, will head into his Viking Late Model debut eighth in the standings. Ryan Corbett and Joey Pederson, driver of the No. 7P Channel Seed Victory, round out the current top ten.
