The NLRA is set to lift the lid on its 24th season of action with the much anticipated return to the Sure Step I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN this Friday night, May the 21st. This Friday's event will be the second visit by the series to the three-eighths mile Otter Tail county speedplant.
| In 2015, the series made its debut at I-94, and it was current World of Outlaws Late Model series regular Ricky Weiss picking up the win, his third of the week after sweeping the two day special at the Norman County Raceway the previous two days. Those were three of his five victories with the series in 2015. The Sure Step I-94 Speedway is popular throughout WISSOTA country, as the Speedway has become the regular host of the yearly WISSOTA 100 in September. The facility also has front and backstretch grandstands, and a tailgate area on the outside of turns one and two. Three races have already been run at I-94 this season, with point leader Dave Mass, Ryan Mikkelson, and Jeffrey Massingill picking up feature wins early on in the 2021 campaign. Mass leads Mikkelson by thirty points, while Late Model rookie Mike Greseth sits third. Greseth used a rainout at I-94 last Friday to finish as the runner-up to defending series champion Dustin Strand in Greseth's River Cities Late Model debut. Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing and Heating Millenium SRT, will open his title defense on a high note, winning both the Modified and Late Model features last Friday at the River Cities Speedway.
Friday's event is the first of two scheduled visits to I-94, as the series will also be part of the Dick Johanneck Memorial at I-94 on June 5th.
