Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S Bergstrom Electric MB Custom, won the last NLRA event held at the Nodak Speedway in 2012. Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 Hawkeye Construction Bloomquist finished second, with Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Sylmak, Inc. Black Diamond rounding out the podium. Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Pro Mark Services MB Custom, and Jeremy Keller rounded out the top five. This will also be the first Late Model show in Minot since last May, when Estevan, Saskatchewan native Aaron Turnbull, driver of the No. 21 New Vision Graphics MB Custom, who has won the last two Late Model races contested in Minot, picked up the victory. Steve Anderson was the best finishing NLRA regular last May, when he finished fourth in the main event. So far this season in NLRA action, it has been Dustin Strand and Mike Balcaen that have lead the way. The duo, who have seven series titles between them, have also won four of the five series races contested this season.
Mike Balcaen has bookended the action so far, picking up the series season opener at the Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, ND, and the series most recent race, at the Greenbush race Park in Greenbush, MN.
Balcaen's wins ended personal droughts for him at each Speedway. His Devils Lake win on May 19th was his first there since 2002, while his Greenbush triumph on Saturday night was his first there since 2008. Balcaen is also third in the current Wissota National Standings.
Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Generations Spa & Salon Millenium SRT, has also won two series races this season. Strand won the first of the three series visits this season at Greenbush, and followed that up with a win on Midco Sportsnet night at the River Cities Speedway on June 29th.
Brad Seng, driver of the Envision Ag No. 12S, has been fast since debuting his new MB Custom race car last month, picking up a victory in weekly competition at the Devils Lake Speedway, and giving Mike Balcaen a run for his money late in last Saturday's feature in Greenbush.
Tom Corcoran, driver of the No. T1 D&B Motors MB Custom, is the leading active driver in previous series wins at the Nodak Speedway, having scored two wins in 1999 and 2008.
Mike Balcaen, Brad Seng, and Troy Schill, driver of the No. 11 Albrecht Manufacturing MasterSbilt by JMR, all have one series victory in Minot.
Dustin Strand currently holds a 46 point advantage over Mike Balcaen in the current NLRA standings. Brad Seng is third, while Shane Edginton, driver of the No. 4 General Signs Victory is currently fourth with the NLRA and in the Wissota National Standings. Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Winnipeg Hearing Centres MasterSbilt rounds out the top five.
Ryan Corbett is sixth, with Brody Troftgruben seventh with his No. 14 Gateway Auto Tech Rocket. Troy Schill is currently eighth, with Joey Pederson, driver of the No. 7P Vesey Plumbing Victory ninth, and Jesse Teunis, driver of the No. 70 Grand Prix Amusements MasterSbilt completing the top ten.
