This Thursday night, May the 27th, the NLRA will head to the Grand Rapids Speedway in Grand Rapids, MN for the first time in nearly eleven years. This will be the second consecutive show that will be a return, and a second overall visit, as the series returned to the Sure Step I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN last Friday night.
| Thursday night will also serve as the season opener at the three-eights mile Itasca County oval, as Pure Stocks, Mod Fours, and Winged Renegade Sprint Cars will also be on the bill. The last time the NLRA made an appearance at Grand Rapids, it was Joel Cryderman picking up the win, as the Thunder Bay, Ontario native parked the familiar yellow and orange Christy's Auto Wrecking No. 51 in victory lane. Jeff Provinzino, Kevin Carlson, Kyle Peterlin, and Cody Skytland rounded out the top five in 2010. Grand Rapids only had three point shows for Late Models last season. Zach Wohlers, Derek Vesel, and Jay Kintner were the feature winners. Jeffrey Massingill winning the point title. These are among the stout contingent of Iron Rangers that will be among the favorites to defend their home turf. One race has been run so far this season in NLRA action, as Dave Mass, driver of the Structural Buildings No. 2, won at the Sure Step I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN last Friday night. He'll enter Thursday night as the series point leader.
He leads by ten points over Bryce Sward, and the Klinder Processing No. 1-2. Rookie Mike Greseth, in the No. 17 Quality Engines Rocket XR1, a returning Shane Edginton in the Schill Construction No. 5E, and Ryan Mikkelson in the RHR Swag No. 15* round out the top five.
