The NLRA heads north of the border for its' annual appearance this Thursday night, July the 2nd, at the Red River Co-Op Speedway, near Winnipeg, MB, Canada. The race is scheduled to be the 24th NLRA race at the speedway, which hosted the NLRA's inaugural event back in 1998. Two-time and defending NLRA champion, Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, won last years' race at the four-tenths mile oval, defeating three-time and defending Wissota champion Ricky Weiss, pilot of the No. 7 Derrick's Sandblasting Bloomquist. 2013 NLRA champion Dustin Strand, driving the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71, three-time NLRA titlist Mike Balcaen, in the No. 10 Northstar Canada Black Diamond, and Steffen Snare, in the No. 71A High Mark Snomobile Rentals Bloomquist, rounded out the top five.
Mike Balcaen went on to win the track title last season in Winnipeg, the 42nd championship in his illustrious career, he also leads all drivers with five previous series triumphs in Winnipeg. Other NLRA winners in Winnipeg include Brad Seng and Joey Pederson, driver of the No 7P Dahlstrom Motors MB Custom with three wins each each, while Troy Schill, in the Forks Finest Auto Body No. 11 boasts a pair of victories, and Ricky Weiss with a single win.
Three races have been run in weekly competition at the Red River Co-Op Speedway this season, with three different drivers winning races. Mike Balcaen won on June 18th, Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 OMG Candy MasterSbuilt by JMR, won on June 11th, and Ricky Weiss won the opener on June 4th. Mooney enters the evening as the point leader in the Red River Co-Op Speedway's weekly standings by eight markers over Mike Balcaen. Kevin Sexton is third, with Paul Veert and Shane Edginton, driver of the No. 5E Avonlea Group Victory Circle rounding out the top five.

Brad Seng sits in the third spot, while Steffen Snare and Steve Anderson, driver of the No. 9 Hi-Per-Flex Panel Systems Pierce, round out the top five. Ricky Weiss is in the sixth spot, with Cody Skytland, driver of the No. 75 Langdon Implement MasterSbuilt by JMR in seventh, Jeff Hapala, driver of the No. 16S Auto Solutions Rocket eighth, Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Rivinius Ranch MasterSbuilt by JMR ninth, and Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 Disabled American Veterans MasterSbuilt rounding out the top ten. Racing begins at seven o'clock on Thursday night.
