This will be the 14th visit overall, and 12th to the speedway since the track was reconfigured to its current third mile layout. In those 12 races, Dustin Strand is the only repeat winner, but his most recent win at the track in the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium SRT came during the fair race in 2016.
Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, has one series win on the half mile and on the current third mile. Two-time and defending series champion and current point leader Mike Greseth, driver of the No. 17 Quality Engines Rocket XR1 won by eight seconds two years ago, while Don Shaw won last year's Schill Memorial.
Speaking of Greseth and Shaw being former winners of an event being held this weekend, the pair are two of the four previous winners of the fifth annual Golden Hammer Classic held at Doyon, North Dakota's Devils Lake Speedway.
Shane Edginton, driver of the No. 5E Performance Auto Sniper, won the first running of the event in 2019 with Brad Seng opening up the series shortened 2020 schedule by winning the 2020 classic.
Overall, at the speedway this season, the name Seng has been dominant at the speedway, but it's John Seng that leads all drivers with two wins in the No. 21S TRENDLess MB Custom at the third mile oval this season. Brad Seng won the most recent weekly event held at the track two weeks ago, with Brody Troftgruben winning back in May in the No. 14 Gateway Auto Tech Rocket, which was the series opener for both the series and track.
Mike Greseth won another two features including the Golden Hammer last season, joining Mike Balcaen, Shane Edginton, Brad Seng, John Seng, Dustin Strand, and Troftgruben as series regulars with series wins at the track. Balcaen, driving the No. 10 McNaught Auto Group Black Diamond, and Strand lead all drivers with four each.
Mike Greseth heads into the three-race weekend with a 66-point lead over Brad Seng. Dustin Strand and Brody Troftgruben sit third and fourth respectively, while Tyler Peterson rounds out the current top five in the No. 1TPO QuickLift Rocket XR1.
Shane Edginton is sixth with John Seng seventh, and Jesse Teunis eighth in the No. 70 Grand Prix Amusements MB Custom. Rookie Rusty Kollman is ninth with the No. 2RK Carr's Grain Service MB Custom and Brandon Corbett completes the top ten with the No. 00C Corbett Trucking MB Custom.
Racing begins at seven each night.
