Strand swept the season series at Devils Lake last season, which also were two of his three career NLRA series triumphs at the high-banked one-third mile clay oval. 2013 Devils Lake winner Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Lithia Toyota MasterSbilt by JMR, finished second in both races last season. Greenbush winner Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S Schill Construction MB Custom, and three-time Devils Lake winner Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Tri-Star Traffic Black Diamond, also finished with a pair of top tens at the track last season.
Going into the race in July 2014, the track hadn't seen an American winner since 2006, as Mooney and Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 A.I.E Communications Bloomquist, won the first races since the track reopened in 2011, after sitting dormant for two years. Since then, No one not named Seng or Strand has one in the past five appearances, with Strand winning the past three events heading into this Saturday night.
Defending Wissota National champion Dustin Strand will head into Devils Lake with a four point lead over four-time National champ Ricky Weiss. Mike Balcaen is third, with Joey Pederson and Bill Mooney are tied for fourth.
Defending NLRA series champion Brad Seng is sixth, with Steffen Snare and Shane Edginton in seventh and eighth respectively. Tom Corcoran and Steve Anderson round out the top ten.
Racing starts at seven on Saturday night. You can find more information on the Devils Lake Speedway by visiting our tracks page, or clicking here.
