The series returns to Grand Rapids for just the third time in series history. Mike Greseth, driver of the No 17 Morton Buildings Rocket XR1, won his first career NLRA feature at the series return to the speedway last May, the first race in 11 years for the series at the 3/8ths mile Itasca County Oval. Two races have already been run in Late Model competition at Grand Rapids this season, with Rick Niemi and Zack Wohlers picking up feature wins. Along with Niemi and Wohlers, the area boasts a strong contingent of local runners, including Kyle Peterlin, Jeff Provinzino, Jeffrey Massingill and Danny Vang. Massingill and Vang, a rookie in Late Model competition, have wins at the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN this season, including Massingill’s victory in NLRA competition at the Dick Johanneck Memorial King of the Dirt. Saturday night, the scene shifts to the Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, where point leader Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44* Mid Ag Dispatch MB Custom won the first visit to the quarter-mile Roseau County oval three weeks ago. The track was also the site of Schill's first career NLRA win in 2016. | Points leader Cole Schill won his first NLRA feature at Greenbush in 2016, and won the first visit this season three weeks ago.
