Zach Naastad followed up his feature win one week prior by winning the second heat over Ricky Weiss in the Derrick's Sandblasting No. 7 and Bill Mooney, driver of the No. 2 Lithia Toyota MasterSbilt by JMR.
Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing Millenium, won the third and final heat over Shane Edginton in the No. 4 Performance Auto Victory by Moyer and Donny Schatz in the No. 15 Fargo Petro Rocket.
Strand redrew the one pill, earning him the pole position for this Friday's make up feature, with Pederson starting to his outside. Naastad and Bintz will share row two, with Weiss and Edginton occupying row three. Fuller, Schatz, Mooney and Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, will round out the top ten starting spots for feature number one on Friday.
In previous weekly competition, Bill Mooney will head into Friday as the most recent Late Model win at River Cities, collecting last weeks checkered flag during the fair race that was seen live on Midco Sports Net. Mooney also won the season opener on May 5.
Mooney and Dustin Strand are tied atop the wins list with two wins a piece. Zach Naastad won his first Late Model feature at the track on June 9th, and in keeping with tradition this year, Naastad won after a brief shower delayed the event. Defending NLRA series champion Brad Seng won on May 12, while Joey Pederson won his first race at River Cities since the June 2015, on May 19.
Brad Seng heads into Friday's races with a seven point lead over Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Enns Brothers Black Diamond, in the River Cities season point standings. Strand, Pederson and Mooney round out the top five. Ryan Corbett, in the No. C4 Corbett Trucking MasterSbilt, Naastad, Tom Corcoran, in the No. T1 D&B Motors MB Custom, Travis Robertson, in the No. 1R Tires Plus MasterSbilt by JMR, and Steve Anderson round out the top ten.
