The NLRA's final road trip of the 2013 season features its' customary Labor Day double header at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN, this year featuring a new twist.
Action will begin on Saturday night, August the 31st, with the series' 30th appearance on the Douglas County Fairgrounds half mile oval. On Sunday night, September the 1st, the series will take part in the speedway's inaugural '4444' race, where 26 drivers will have a chance to win $4,444 for winning the 44 lap main event.

The race will also have a fuel stop around the half way point in the main event. Pat Doar and Viking Speedway regular Zach Johnson won the NLRA series races at the speedway back in May. Along with Doar and Johnson, NLRA regulars Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport Mars MB Custom, Mike Balcaen, driver of the No. 10 Northstar Canada Victory Circle, and Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71S Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium scored top tens on both nights, while Viking regulars Jeff Wildung and Eric Breeschoten achieved the same feat on their home track. The Viking Speedway boasts a strong group of regulars including Zach Johnson, driver of the No. 73 Midwest Grain Systems Pierce, the newly minted Wissota Challenge Series champion. Johnson also has seven NLRA victories at the Speedway, and three with the NLRA this season. Jeff Wildung, winner of ten NLRA features at the Viking Speedway, has all but locked up the Viking Speedway title this season as he has put his No. 50 machine 100 points in front of Zach Johnson. Racing starts at 6pm both nights.

Cole Schill, driver of the No. 44 Quaker Steak and Lube Rocket is eighth. Billy Michaelsohn, driver of the No. 8 Dave's West Fargo Tire Rayburn stands in ninth. Norm Olson, driver of the No. 29 BM Transport MasterSbuilt rounds out the top ten.
Troy Schill Wins In Winnipeg, Brad Seng Wins at River Cities
Troy Schill lead all 20 laps of last Thursday night's main event at the Red River Co-Op Speedway near Winnipeg, MB, winning by nearly six seconds. The win was Schill's first of the season. Other NLRA regulars with good finishes in Winnipeg include Bill Mooney and Mike Balcaen who finished third and fourth respectively. Balcaen leads the points in Winnipeg by a 23 point advantage. NLRA'ers were also impressive at the Wissota challenge series event at the Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN. Brad Seng finished third in the main event, Dustin Strand was sixth after starting 13th, and Billy Michaelsohn won his heat race by two seconds, and went on to finish 13th in the main event. Seng went on to win the next night at River Cities in Grand Forks, the 35th victory of his late model career at the speedway. Joey Pederson, Dustin Strand, Mike Balcaen, and Tom Corcoran in the No. T1 D&B Motors Rocket rounded out the top five.
