Cole Schill (44) and Brad Seng (12S) battle for the lead at Greenbush on July 30. They were the ones to beat in Greenbush in 2016, as the pair split the two visit to the track last season. Schill's win was his first of his career with the NLRA, and first of a pair of wins separated by six days, as he went on to win the return to Fargo the following Friday. Seng's win was his second of the season, and 33rd overall with the series, which leads the all time list.

Thank you to all of our veterans.
Photos from speedway-shots.com Today's 'Throwback Thursday' comes by request from Dan B. on Facebook. This is of former NLRA President Jon Bittner in a picture taken by JR Hughes in 2001 at the Dacotah Speeway in Mandan, ND. Bittner campaigned his familiar No. 56 in the area from 1996 to 2005. Bittner's son Paul plays professional hockey for the Columbus Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate in Cleveland.
JR Hughes - westernwandererphoto.com The pics aren't old, but the car sure is. Last weekend at the Jamestown Stampede this beauty, which appears to be an old Bullitt chassis once campaigned by Larry Seckerson, was on display and paced around during the anthems and the parade laps before the features. After some research, there is a picture of this car on the JR Hughes' Western Wanderer website from 1991. A link to that photo can be found here.

Dustin Strand of Grand Forks, ND, won the NLRA series championship in 2015, his second in three years.
Strand won twice on tour last season, with wins at Jamestown and Devils Lake last August. Strand's Devils Lake win came on the last turn of the last lap, as he stole the win from Ricky Weiss by .048 seconds at the line. Strand finished every feature lap run in NLRA action in 2015, and never finished outside the top ten, his "worst" finish, a ninth place run at Viking on May 23. The 2016 season begins tomorrow night at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND, where Strand doubled up his NLRA win in August with another visit to victory lane in during the Stampede last September. Brad Seng of Grand Forks, ND, finished second in the NLRA series standings last season. Seng, a two-time series champion, won five times in NLRA competition in 2016, including a win on May 23rd at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, MN, which set a new record for most wins all time in NLRA history at 27. John Seitz had held the record of 26 wins since August 2006, before Seng tied it at River Cities in August 2014. Seng also collected wins at Greenbush on June 20, Buffalo River on June 28, Devils Lake on July 18, and Viking on Sept. 6. The 2016 season begins on Saturday night at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND, a track where Seng has collected 3 of his series best 31 career series victories, with wins coming in 2002, 2003, and 2014.
