The series opened the 2024 campaign on May 11th at Devils Lake where Dustin Strand picked up his 30th career NLRA series win in the No. 71 Walhalla Builders Longhorn. The win was the first of Strand's series leading three wins so far this season.
Shane Edginton was second in the Red River Messenger Courier No. 5E and Kevin Robertson rounded out the podium in the H. Anderson Concrete No. 10R.
NLRA point leader Cole Schill was fourth on May 11th in the No. 44 Mid Ag Dispatch MB Custom and was followed home by Cole Babcock in the No. 2* Wicked Wraps & Fab Rocket XR1.
A couple more drivers to look out for this Saturday will be from the Pederson family. The most recent winner at Devils Lake is Tucker Pederson who drives the No. 27P North Dakota Eye Clinic MB Custom. Pederson led all 25 laps for his first career Late Model victory in just his eighth start. Pederson also collected his first top ten with the series on May 11th at Devils Lake.
Joey Pederson heads into the weekend as the defending champion of the Classic, winning the event that was also rescheduled in 2023, this time to August. Pederson, driving the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Rocket XR1, held off Tyler Peterson for the $5,000 win last season.
Brody Troftgruben, driver of the No. 14 Applegren Construction Longhorn, in the other driver with a Devils Lake victory at Devils Lake this season, That win came on June 8th in weekly action.
Dustin Strand and Brad Seng, driver of the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom, lead all drivers with five previous series wins at Devils Lake, though only two drivers have multiple wins in 9 previous races at the track since 2020.
Cole Schill carries a 14 point lead over Dustin Strand heading into Saturday night. Brody Troftgruben, Brad Seng, and Shane Edginton complete the top five.
