Lance Schill Scores First NLRA Victory; Dustin Strand Wins Fourth Title

The fourteenth annual John Seitz Memorial at the River Cities Speedway is in the books, and the big winners were Lance Schill, driver of the No. 17 Schill Construction MB Custom, who collected his first career NLRA series feature win during the 'Prelude to the Johnny.' Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Millenium SRT won his fourth NLRA series championship. And Aaron Turnbull, driver of the No. 21 Mack Auctions MB Custom, who won the 'Go Hard or Go Home' pole dash, and his second consecutive John Seitz Memorial championship.

On Thursday night at River Cities, Steffen Snare lined the No. 71S Todd's Electric Bloomquist on the pole, with Lance Schill to his outside. After a caution on the initial start, Schill took the lead, as Joey Pederson moved to second in the No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors Victory.

This Thursday night, September the 10th, the 23rd season of NLRA action comes to a close with the tenth running of the 'Prelude to the Johnny.' The event kicks off the three-day, fourteenth annual John Seitz Memorial, which honors our three-time series champion, the late great John Seitz. Thursday's race serves as the series opportunity to crown its' series champion at their home track, the high-banked, quarter-mile River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, racing at the speedway for the 45th time overall in series history.

Dustin Strand, driver of the No. 71 Keewatin Truck Service Millenium SRT, spent a majority of the race in the second spot, but lead the final few feet of the 25 lap event at the River Cities Speedway, winning his second consecutive series feature. The win was also his twenty-fourth with the series, tying Ricky Weiss for fourth all-time on the series wins list.

This Friday night, the NLRA will co-headline with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. This will be the 44th time the series has held an event at the quarter-mile "Bullring" on the Greater Grand Forks Fairgrounds, and the twentieth time the series has shared the spotlight with the Outlaws in Grand Forks since 2009.

The series made it's first appearance of the 2020 campaign at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks last Friday night, and it was Brad Seng who parked the No. 12S S&S Transport MB Custom in victory lane for the second time in NLRA series action this season, and for the 39th time overall in his NLRA career.

This Friday night, July 31st, the series will take to the River Cities Speedway for the first time in 2020. This is scheduled to be the 43rd series race held at the quarter-mile "Bullring" on the Greater Grand Forks Fairgrounds. This Friday's date was scheduled to be the third series race of the 2020 campaign, but the first two were lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before setting out to compete for rookie of the year with the World Of Outlaws Late Model Series next month, Ricky Weiss, driver of the No. 7 J&C Properties Bloomquist, bounced back from a DNF after running fourth on the opening night of the 13th Annual Wild West Shootout at the Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley, Arizona, to score solid finishes of ninth and sixth. When all was said and done, the Headingley, Manitoba native finished out the final three rounds of the series, with two big victories.

Five NLRA championships will once again be represented this year during the 13th Annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout at the FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley, AZ.

The Northern Late Model Racing Association has built a rich history of successes, from being built from scratch by it's drivers in the winter of 1997-98, but the series is about to be witness to another historic moment this Thursday night during the fifth running of the Can-Am Challenge at the Red River Co-Op Speedway.
